Idaho Patio Misters for the State's Hot Spots: Lewiston, Caldwell and Mountain Home

Idaho isn't usually the first state people think of for patio misting, but a few corners of it get seriously hot. Lewiston sits low in the canyon where the Snake and Clearwater rivers meet, Caldwell bakes on the west end of the Treasure Valley, and Mountain Home sits out on the open high desert. Idaho Patio Misters earn their keep in all three.

Lewiston: canyon heat on a back deck

Lewiston is the lowest-elevation city in Idaho, and its summer afternoons regularly run hotter than the rest of the state. Canyon homes often have elevated back decks, which are ideal for misting: clamp the 1/4" line under the deck's top rail or along an awning, and the extra height gives the mist room to evaporate before it reaches anyone.

Caldwell: big yards, long runs

Caldwell and the surrounding farm country tend to have larger lots and wider patios. The Patio Misting System Pro includes 100 ft of tubing and works for runs from 20 to 100 linear feet, so a long covered patio or a shop-front overhang is within reach of a single kit. Use the T connectors to branch toward a second seating area if the run allows.

Mountain Home: dry desert air

Out on the high desert, humidity is low most summer afternoons, which is the best case for evaporative cooling. The Patio Misting System says its kit can cool a space up to 30°F, with results depending on heat and humidity, and dry air is where it does its best work. Larger .3mm nozzles suit open, sun-exposed patios here.

All three towns share one thing: real winters. Drain the line and bring the pump inside before the first hard freeze, and keep the included calcium inhibitor filter on the hose inlet, since a lot of Idaho well and city water runs hard.
